Fall into Falls Church, a Historic & Notable Homes Tour

Join an especially intriguing afternoon of local history and follow development through the ages. Five of the City of Falls Church’s most historic properties, including three private residences not usually open to the public, will be open for tours led by costumed docents. The Falls Church Episcopal (1769), the Cherry Hill Farmhouse (1845), Mount Hope (1830/1870), the Deputron House (1893), and the Henderson House (1910). Tours will discuss the house, its residents, and local history.

This event is co-sponsored by the Victorian Society at Falls Church, the Friends of Cherry Hill Foundation, the Tinner Hill Heritage Foundation, and the Falls Church Episcopal with all proceeds going to preservation of these irreplaceable structures.

FALLS CHURCH FARM DAY

Enjoy a day of old fashioned fun and activities of horse drawn hayrides, petting farm, pony rides, pumpkin painting, scare crow making (bring your own long pants and a sleeved shirt), live music, tours of the farmhouse and barn, blacksmith demonstrations, beekeeping, and food. Free admission, fee for some activities.

What better way to kick off Halloween than with an evening of old-fashioned ghost stories. Join us as Victorian Society at Falls Church re-enactors bring to life ghost stories from the great American writer, Ambrose Bierce. **Reservations Recommended**

Witch’s Brew Tea

Celebrate Halloween at Cherry Hill! Bring a friend and enjoy a festive talk and tea at the historic Farmhouse. Victorian presenter Linda Lau will display select antique trinkets from her private collection and discuss Halloween celebrations and traditions, old and new, during the Victorian era. Afterward, all guests will retire to the lovely dining room for a full tea of sandwiches, assorted sweets, warm scones, and a bottomless cup of tea. **Reservations are required**

Genealogy Talk & Tea

Curious about your family history or trying to assemble a family tree? If so, come to Cherry Hill for this talk and tea. Ms. Deane Dierksen will discuss how to investigate your own ancestry and begin assembling a family tree. Civil War Christmas

Start your Christmas season off with a visit to Cherry Hill Farmhouse to see how Christmas was celebrated during the Civil War. Costumed re-enactors welcome friends, neighbors, and soldiers who gather for some holiday cheer in the midst of the conflict. Period decorations, music and Christmas carols, literary readings and poetry, and children’s activities are all part of the festivities. Free admission

Children’s Holiday Shoppe

Volunteers will help children purchase and wrap inexpensive holiday gifts for friends and family. All gifts are $6 and under.

Holiday Tea

Enjoy a special holiday tea and talk at the historic farmhouse. The house will be decorated in mid-19th century period décor and will include a tree. The talk will be presented by the 1858 mistress of Cherry Hill. As always the tea consists of tea sandwiches, assorted sweets, warm scones and a bottomless cup of tea.
