VOLUNTEER AT THE HISTORIC CHERRY HILL FARMHOUSE AND BARN There are many opportunities to volunteer at the Cherry Hill Farmhouse and Barn. Each year, from April to October, volunteer docents give public tours of the historic Farmhouse on Saturdays from 10 am-noon. In addition, from 10-noon on many Saturdays from April to October volunteers give tours of the Barn and offer the opportunity for children (and others) to use the Barn's period machines to shell and grind corn. During other times of the year, the Friends of Cherry Hill offer various events held at the historic Farmhouse. The Friends offer teas at the Farmhouse four times a year: for Valentine's Day and Mother's Day and two Holiday Teas. Other events held by the Friends at the Farmhouse include various crafting workshops and the Children's Holiday Shoppe in December of each year. In addition, the Friends participate in events held by the City of Falls Church and local organizations such as Tree Fest, World Art Day and Women's History Day. The City of Falls Church also offers various events held at the historic Farmhouse and the Barn throughout the year. In addition to the public tours, the City offers public events such as Ice Cream Socials, the Farmhouse After Dark and Farm Day. Holiday events have included a Halloween Literary Evening and A Very Victorian Christmas. The City also offers tours and teas for private groups, programs for school classes and Girl Scout troops, and summer camps. Anyone interested in volunteering to help at any of these events should contact Holly Irwin, Cherry Hill Farmhouse Supervisor, at (703) 248-5171 or hirwin@fallschuchva.gov. We hope you will join us in volunteering at the Historic Cherry Hill Farmhouse. |
