VOLUNTEER AT THE HISTORIC CHERRY HILL FARMHOUSE AND BARN

Come learn more about Falls Church and our history plus make new friends by volunteering with Friends of Cherry Hill!

There are many exciting opportunities to volunteer at the Cherry Hill Farmhouse and Barn.  Each year from April through October, volunteer docents give public tours of the historic Farmhouse on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to noon. And on some of those  Saturdays, volunteers give tours of the Barn and offer the opportunity for children (and others) to use the Barn's period machines to shell and grind corn.

During other times of the year, the Friends of Cherry Hill offer events held at the historic Farmhouse.  The Friends usually offer teas at the Farmhouse four times a year: Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, and two Holiday Teas. Other public events by the Friends include various crafting workshops and the Children's Holiday Shoppe. Opportunities exist for historic research, writing, website, membership activities, and other opportunities.

In addition, the Friends participate in exciting events held by the City of Falls Church, such as the Farmhouse After Dark, Ice Cream Social, Fall Festival, and Farm Day. The City also offers tours and teas for private groups, programs for school classes and Girl Scout troops, and summer camps.

The Friends also participate in or support local organizations, such as World Art Day, Women's History Day, and Tree Fest. Holiday events have included a Halloween Literary Evening and A Very Victorian Christmas.

Anyone interested in volunteering to help at any of these events should contact Holly Irwin, Cherry Hill Farmhouse Supervisor, at (703) 248-5171 or hirwin@fallschuchva.gov. Or come by one of our tours or activities to find out more.

We hope you will join us in volunteering at the Historic Cherry Hill Farmhouse and Barn.
